As an ex taxi driver I did 340000 in a rover 75 with bmw diesel. Still going strong but only changed because of age constraints by taxi licencing. Also had Ford mondeo driven to similar mileage, again no problems but wrecked by a drunk driver. Then had a skoda Octavia L & K 2.0 with dsg. No probs with box but engine began to smoke at 220000. Now currently have bmw 320d auto. No probs and just on 182000. Can’t fault the BMW engine but the VW block, not so good.

I've not watched the video because, as someone who had £7,500 worth of damage done to my BMW by contaminated supermarket diesel, I already know the answer (Every little bit of water / silt in the fuel did not help...). The fuel may be the same WHEN IT LEAVES THE REFINERY, but fuel, and tanks, have to be managed correctly / professionally once it leaves the refinery / tanker and goes into the storage tanks. Fuel is not a Supermarket's core business and is simply used as a draw to then get customers to do their weekly shop in the store. Due to my experience, i would not use supermarket fuel even if it was offered free of charge.

Got it, diesel is diesel. As if my 20 year old Shogun Sport 2.5 would even notice if I changed ;) ...It'd burn chip oil if I put it in there.

Hang about - you aren't measuring injector duty cycle?! God I don't want to ask because I'm scared of the answer, but given how close the results are is it possible your ECU is simply altering the fuel squirted in to accommodate higher centane values, higher BTU per gram, and all that? The in cylinder glow plug transducers are soooo cool (where'd you get them for *only* 2k a pop?!) but if the ECU is reading manifold pressure and trying to keep it a certain thing, its going to suppress any real differences. I'd take the engine out mate, or buy a different engine, because economy isnt HP but it could result in less fuel on board (weight) or more laps between pitstops :)

Great work as always. I have a 2015 audi q7 3.0 tdi. One problem im hoping someone can help me with. It has blown out One injector. Pulled out the thread. Any advice welcome for a permanent repair. I would like all 6 injector thread's doing.

I tested fuels and lubricants for 5 years and V-power was the best fuel by a country mile. The test I conducted was injector coking where we additized a base fuel that gave a known coking value. Then we run V-power through and the engine would regain power back within 8hrs. So when shell made V-power it was to clean up the engine and bring back fuel economy lost to lacquer build up on injectors and fouling caused by the combustion process. Just my 10 pence lol .

Talking nonsense, been in the motor trade for over 38 years , it's not about power or fuel economy it is about how clean of a burn you get from the fuel . Run a car for a year and then strip the engine down and see how your injectors look using cheap fuel compared to cheap fuel. Next, wait to get a very bad winter and stick your cheap fuel in and see freeze up. he is telling you it does nothing it's more like he knows nothing.
